Before you can interact with the WebBoard online discussion board, you must first create an account.  On our campus, this is different from the BlackBoard discussion board, where the accounts are created by faculty and administrators. It is very easy - so easy, you can do it before your first cup of coffee in the morning.

1. In a Web browser, go to the URL:

   http://webboard.palomar.edu/webboard/wbpx.dll/~WMG1   for introductory Web Motion Graphics 1

   http://webboard.palomar.edu/webboard/wbpx.dll/~WMG2   for intermediate Web Motion Graphics 2

   http://webboard.palomar.edu/webboard/wbpx.dll/~WMG3   for advanced Web Motion Graphics 3

   
2. Click on the New User button

   The New User Information page appears:

   
3. In the New User Information page, enter:

   Login Name

   This is a name that you make up ... might I suggest: first initial plus last name
    
   

   First Name

   Enter the name you would like to be addressed by
    
   

   Last Name

   Enter your last name
    
   

   Email Address

   Enter the email address that should be used for all of your class correspondence.

   This needs to be a real, functioning address, as your login password will be sent to that address
    
   

   City, State, Country

   These are optional fields, and you can either fill them or leave them blank
    
   

   Home Page

   Also optional: You can enter your personal home page, but you will be changing it with the URL of your student account on Pluto in a few days
    
   

4. Click:  Create

   The WebBoard system will send you a temporary password.  Unless there are problems, it will be sent immediately, and you can retrieve it immediately.

   
5. Retrieve the email message from your account

   It will contain the Username you selected, a temporary Password, and a link back to the Login page for our class

6. Return to the Login page for our class:

7. Log in to the WebBoard system:

   Name

   Enter the Login Name you selected in step 3
    
   

   Password

   Enter the temporary password that was sent to your email address
    
   

   

   Click:  Log in

   The WebBoard Welcome page appears:
    
   

   
    
   
8. Click on the More button in the WebBoard menu bar at the top of the page
   
    
   

   This provides you access to the user preferences (More Options) area

   
    
   
9. Click on the My Profile link

   In this User Profile area, you can change your password from the system-supplied string of characters to something more easily remembered.

   There are other preferences that can be set in this area.  Those you can explore on your own ... the default settings will work perfectly well without modification.

   
    
   
10. Click on the Save button at the bottom of the More Options page
